"She sees these kids in the hallway that appear and disappear, and that was the first cue. It was synthetic and sort of noisy and creepy. It was liked, but the first versions didn't have the melody that Ryan really wanted."

"But this is why I love collaborating with good people," he added. "They sent me back and pushed me to take it to another level, so I came up with this melody and sound, which to me sounds kind of like it's on an old record from the '20s, vaguely violin and very creepy. And he loved it. Now it's become a signature sound for the season."

"I got to work on refreshing the main titles, the theme that's been with the show from the beginning, and so I wrote a melody and put that sound on top of what had been the main titles previously," he said. "You can now hear this new melody with this sound that's sort of like a creepy violin. That was a lot of fun."

Visually the game looks like a storybook come to life. Characters have this flat but detailed look to them, giving off a paper cutout feel. Environments are detailed well to make places feel really atmospheric. Little details, like seeing a creepy face in a woodland tree or the multi-layered backgrounds as I traversed through places, helped to drive home its unsettling tone.

The Black Cat is a truly horrifying story of a death-row confession of guilt by a serial killer. The much loved family cat becomes the agent of his destruction and inevitable descent into crime and madness. Another superb story is The Facts in the Case of M Valdemar. In this chilling tale, a mesmerist uses his skill to put a man into a trance at the exact moment of death. Poe wrote this story based on a newspaper report that he read about a New York doctor who was supposed to have conducted an operation after placing the patient under hypnosis. Such was Poe's talent that the story was mistaken for a genuine scientific report when it first came out! Writers and poets like Kipling and Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote personally to Poe, congratulating him on creating such a fantastic story.

A crumbling ruin steeped in an atmosphere of doom and decay... the last descendant of a noble family... an opium addict and his deluded fantasies&emdash;these form the elements of one of Poe's most atmospheric creepy tales The Fall of the House of Usher. It is also one of his most famous stories and is considered to depict Poe as being at the peak of his craftsmanship. The surreal feeling of this story has made it a perfect choice for adaptation on film and television.

Another truly scary tale is The Pit and The Pendulum, which describes the horrors of the Spanish Inquisition in medieval Spain in the sixteenth century. The collection also features Edgar Allan Poe's famous poem The Raven which is guaranteed to send a shiver down the spine of even the most skeptical of readers.

Creepy Tale is simply that, a creepy tale, even if by the end you have no idea what has transpired between these characters and what is happening in this world. As you begin, you take control of a young boy as he is picking mushrooms with his brother in a forest. Shortly after, you approach this old, run-down house where your brother gets taken by these huge, hairy and terrifying creatures. As you could predict, it becomes your task to save your brother from these monstrosities by going deep down into their lair and discovering what these beasts really are.

Keith, have you ever heard this folktale, which I've been unable to trace? A chieftain returning from a cattle raid stopped to count the creach as it crossed a ford. A friar accompanying the raiders watered his horse midstream, bending over to pet it, and exposing his white neck. The chief's henchman, or duine laider, couldn't resist and cut the monks head off with his two hands sword. The peasantry finally had to deal with the brute, since the chief feared him. They chased him into a pig sty and dealt with him with pitch fork and flail.
